Hugh Jackman Discusses Hanging Up The Claws; Still Hesitant About Team-Up With Deadpool

There has been a lot of commotion lately surrounding the idea of a Dedpool/Wolverine movie, with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds having both weighed in on it multiple times. In an interview with Variety, Jackman has spoken about his first encounter with the character back in  X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

He wasn’t in the Deadpool costume in my movie. He was laying the groundwork. He came down to Australia. It was the writer’s strike, so we couldn’t have a writer. Literally, the script would say things like, “Deadpool comes in, talking a mile a minute, very funny.” Uh, where’s the dialogue? We’d say: “Yeah man, do whatever you can.”

Now that they’ve gotten Deadpool right (although perfect might be a better term) on-screen, Hugh Jackman is leaving the role of Wolverine after Logan. He is adamant that he will not come back for a crossover film because he feels that it is his time to give it up:

“I’m hesitating, because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may be wrong. I’m at the point where I’m finishing up. In terms of a theory, it’s a great idea.”

Despite this, he has stated that he is very proud of Logan and hopefully if fans are too, maybe we can rally with the Merc with a Mouth and get him to come back.

“I’m really, really proud of this movie. I was really keen that I didn’t leave the party feeling like I could dance more. I think I’m pretty much danced out, and I had a great time. It’s been an unbelievable ride, but it feels right.”

Maybe right now he doesn’t feel like he can dance anymore, but hopefully Reynolds can put on a song that he’ll want to move his feet to.

What do you guys think? Are you backing the crossover? What would you do to see Jackman and Reynolds on screen together? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
