Superman is obviously one of the most iconic figures in all of history. Whether you grew up a comic fan or not, you should know the name. Due to his constant exposure, it should be no surprise to anyone, that many well known directors have shown interest in directing a Superman related project, whether it be a movie, or a tv show.
One of these directors that has recently shown interest, is J.A. Bayona, who is well known in the industry for his work on The Impossible and The Monster Calls.
Bayona is already set to direct Jurassic World 2, a sequel to the first smash hit Jurassic World film. Bayona revealed this is a new interview, where he stated that Superman from 1978, was the first film he ever saw, and that’s what drives his passion for the character.
“The first movie I saw in my life was Superman. I was three years old. The first memory I had was Christopher Reeve flying in the suit. Directing a Superman film would be great. I always wanted to be Superman. That’s the film that made me want to become a director.”
While it seems unlikely for Bayona to direct a Superman movie, the Man of Steel sequel is still technically without a director. Although many fans have assumed it will be a returning Zack Snyder, that is yet to be confirmed. Many fans would be extremely happy to see Snyder take on the sequel, while many would prefer a new face for the DCEU, as Snyder would have directed 4 DC Movies by that point.
