Vincent D’Onofrio On Kingpin: “He’ll Be Back Eventually”

Kingpin was, in a way, a breath of fresh air for Marvel fans. For a cinematic universe that was heavily criticized for their poor choice of forgettable villains; Kingpin was one of the first memorable ones to show up on-screen. It’s too bad it was on a show exclusive to streaming giant Netflix. Kingpin was ruthless and calculating throughout the debut season of Daredevil and took on a “puppeteering” role in the sophomore season. While he is physically dominating, the sophomore season showed that Kingpin’s intellect matches his appearance. Since then, fans have been clamoring for any of the Netflix characters to crossover with the movies to give an added aspect of realism in an otherwise other worldly genre of movies.

While Kingpin is a perfect choice to show up first considering his history in the comics with Marvel’s new rising star, Spider-Man, no confirmed news has been announced yet. Fans waiting to see Kingpin shouldn’t fret since actor Vincent D’onofrio himself said that he should be showing up in a Marvel property in 2017:

“He will, eventually. Honestly, I wish I knew ‘cause I could plan my year better. I know he will come back, I just don’t know when. I can’t wait to find out. I’m totally into the Marvel stuff, big time. I want to do Marvel, all the time. I love it so much ‘cause they’re so creative over there. They let you bring this whole new thing to an iconic thing that they invented. It’s just so much fun. I love it to death. I want to see Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman. There’s something about those movies. I dig the shit out of them. I’ve been tweeting back and forth with James Gunn, about doing something with him because I love Guardians of the Galaxy so much.”

The four possible destinations for D’onofrio could be in any of the new shows coming out this year: Iron Fist, The Punisher, or The Defenders. These would be the most likely destinations considering Kingpin is familiar with the heroes since they’re mostly based in New York. A fourth destination that seems unlikely but worth mentioning is the upcoming solo debut Spider-Man: Homecoming. This would stem from his previous history with Peter Parker in the comics, as mentioned before. Fans will just have to wait and see when the self-titled villain would pop up again.
