The ‘Daredevil’ Movie Convinced Ben Affleck To Take Up The Mantle Of Batman

Before he was cast as the DCEU’s Bruce Wayne, Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck actually played a different superhero; he starred as Matt Murdock in 2003’s Daredevil, a movie which most people tend to forget about. However, according to Affleck, that role played a major part in him taking up the mantle of the DCEU’s Batman.

“Part of it was I wanted for once to get one of these movies and do it right – to do a good version,” he tells the New York Times. “I hate ‘Daredevil’ so much. It  frustrated me.”

Obviously, the 2003 movie was way before the MCU or DCEU ever started, so there aren’t any continuity errors with the current Daredevil Netflix show, which Affleck says he really enjoys.

“The Netflix show does really cool stuff. I feel like that was there for us to do with that character, and we never kind of got it right. I wanted to do one of those movies and sort of get it right.”

Currently, Ben Affleck is working on the script for his upcoming Batman solo movie. Before that, though, we will be seeing him as the Caped Crusader once again in next year’s Justice League, alongsidee Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as the Flash.
