One of DC’s most anticipated upcoming movies is the solo Batman movie which is being written, directed by ‘Batman’ himself Ben Affleck. The movie itself has no solid release date as of yet and in an interview with the New York Times, Affleck talked about how he doesn’t see that as a bad thing…
I’m a real believer in not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather when you get the right story, the right idea, the right thing, then you make the movie. That’s what we’re doing, and I’m hoping to get that done. I’m spending a lot of time working on that, but also working on other stuff. I’m really mindful of that. I’m not in any hurry to jam a mediocre film down the pipe.”
We all want to see the ‘Batman’ movie as soon as we can but once Warner Brothers announces that release date they have two options: they can either stick to that release date and run the risk of having to rush the movie, OR they can not rush the movie and, if need be, push back the release date if they encounter any problems, potentially leading to criticism for seeming like they don’t have a solid plan. Therefore, the best thing to do is to wait until they finish writing the movie and be sure of exactly when they can have the movie ready by.
Joe Manganiello, who will be playing the mercenary ‘Deathstroke’ in the solo ‘Batman’ movie, previously stated that filming will begin in the spring of 2017 so we won’t be surprised if the film is released early-mid 2018 but Warner Brothers can release the film whenever they think is the best time to release the movie.
