Yes, that’s right. For her portrayal of Harley Quinn in this summer’s Suicide Squad, Australian actress Margot Robbie won the critics choice award for Best Actress in an Action movie.
Her performance truly was outstanding, and even though the film, in general, wasn’t very well received, watching Robbie bring Harley Quinn to life was amazing. She masterfully captured her insane, yet playful and comedic personality, beating out her contenders Gal Gadot (Batman V Superman), Scarlett Johansson (Captain America: Civil War) and Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange). Naturally, we’re excited we’ll get to see her again in a future Harley Quinn spinoff movie, which is already in development at Warner Bros. and is expected to feature the Birds Of Prey as well.
It’s cool to see comic book movies get more recognition, as they increasingly often offer either great storylines, acting performances, or even both, yet are never represented at or even considered for award shows like the Oscars. Do you think Robbie deserved the win? If not, tell us who you think should’ve won in the comments or on Twitter / Instagram!
