The recently released trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming gave us our first look at Peter Parker’s life in high school. The latest incarnation of the web-slinger is around 16 years old and will be dealing with being a high school teenager and everyone’s friendly neighbourhood ‘Spider-Man’ at the same time.
Tom Holland recently live-streamed on the official ‘Spider-Man’ Facebook page and revealed that he secretly went back to High School in New York…
“The coolest thing I think I did was I enrolled in a high school in New York in the Bronx. [It was] a secret. Like no one knew who I was or what I was doing. I had a fake name and a fake accent. I went to school for 3 days and I was really fun, you know? It was so interesting because New York high schools are so different to the ones I went to in London.”
“I told one kid at the school ‘Hey man, listen, I’m actually Spider-Man!” Did not believe me. He went “What?!” I said “No, seriously dude, I’m Spider-Man! No joke, let’s not mess around anymore, I’m Spider-Man” He went ” I do not believe you!”
When another student asked him why he was here and told him that he had to enrol instead of just turning up, Holland told her that he had “a secret” to which she replied…
“Dude, you are nuts! You are literally the craziest guy I have ever met in my life.”
Well Tom, those students are probably kicking themselves right now after seeing the trailer. It’s great that we will probably be getting multiple ‘Spider-Man’ movies with Peter Parker in high school instead of only one. Yesterday it was reported that the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will be arriving on July 5th 2019. The fact that Tom Holland is so young means that he could play the character for 15-20 years if he wanted too.
Some of the best stories of Peter Parker in the comics are of him during his high school years so we can’t wait to see Spider-Man: Homecoming when it hits theatres on July 7th 2017!
