Last night Marvel and Sony officially released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming which blew everyone away by combining the tone of Tom Holland’s perfect portrayal of ‘Spider-Man’ with the classic Marvel touch of a blockbuster comic book movie. The domestic and international trailers were both released on Jimmy Kimmel but the film also got an updated synopsis. Check it out below…
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Parts of the synopsis are reminiscent to moments in the trailer such as Peter sitting in class watching himself in action during the events of Captain America: Civil War and wishing he could be a full ‘Avenger’. It has been assumed for a long time ago that Robert Downey Jr. was going to play a mentor-type role in the movie and in the trailer we really got a sense of Tony Stark’s mentor, and almost father-figure, type role to Peter.
Michael Keaton’s ‘Vulture’ looked magnificent and Tom Holland has assured us that his entrance in the film in synonymous with that of a horror movie entrance and that it will be…
“really scary, very intense and shocking.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theatres on July 7th 2017!
