A couple of days ago we got one of the most entertaining trailers of the year when Marvel released the latest marketing piece for Guardians of The Galaxy: Volume 2. We got a great look at some extremeely funny moments from Drax and Baby Groot which made fans want to see the movie as soon as they can. Luckily it’s not TOO far away!
In the first Guardians of The Galaxy movie, director, James Gunn, had Josh Brolin’s ‘Thanos’ and the Infinity Stones to connect the film to the rest of the MCU but it seems as though the sequel won’t have to deal with such elements. When James Gunn was asked by a fan ““Does maintaining continuity in the MCU interfere at all in the process of making your movie exactly how you want it?” he responded with the following tweet…
I’m so out in space unconnected at this point, outside of Thanos in Vol 1, I’ve never had to deal with even a single moment of continuity. https://t.co/uqgYryh6LO

It obviously makes sense in GOTG: Volume 2 that, because the Guardians are in space and therefore won’t deal with any of the characters that we have seen in other Marvel movies, Gunn doesn’t have to worry about the continuity and hitting the same beats as the other MCU films. Once the Guardians appear in Avengers: Infinity War, the Russo brothers will need to make sure that their decisions keep in continuity with the ‘Guardians of The Galaxy’ movies, but you don’t need constant references to the other films in the MCU for a Marvel film to be great.
I think we can speak for a lot of people when we say that we are glad that James Gunn was allowed to make the movie that we ended up seeing in theatres and we cannot wait to see what Guardians of The Galaxy: Volume 2 hits theatres on May 5th 2017!
