While Ben Affleck’s Batman film is currently without a release date (although rumored for a 2018 release), the excitement surrounding this film builds every day. With an already star-studded cast featuring the likes of Ben Affleck, Joe Manganiello, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, and other A-list actors bound to join the film as well, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest releases for the DCEU. Joe Manganiello, who’ll be portraying Slade Wilson/Deathstroke in the film, has been pretty vocal when it comes to when The Batman will begin production, even though Affleck has explicitly stated on multiple occasions that he won’t begin shooting until he’s pleased with the script.
While on the Rich Eisen Show this morning, the actor again spoke about when he’d begin working on The Batman in a brief statement:
“I play the world’s deadliest assassin, who also has one eye. We will start at some point this year it looks like.”
With 3 weeks left in the month of December, it seems highly unlikely that anything related to the film would get done, especially with Affleck set to go on a promotional tour for his upcoming film Live by Night. A few months ago, Manganiello also stated that The Batman was going to start filming in the spring, so at this point, fans are unsure what to believe right now. The best course of action is to wait for an official word from either Affleck, Geoff Johns, or WB in regards to the production of The Batman.
You can hear Manganiello’s remarks at the 9:39 mark.
