Ever since it’s release in 2013, Pacific Rim has been a cult classic, attracting everyone from Gundam lovers to people who just love to watch two giant beings, albeit one is a mech controlled by two pilots, duke it out to determine the fate of Earth. The sequel entitled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, while having some of the film’s details hidden, the director, Steven S. DeKnight, shared a little set secret via his instagram.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on which side you’re on, there’s not much more information about the film outside of this set photo. Shooting started in November in Australia and there’s already confirmation that John Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost. In addition to Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny also star. Alongside them, Jing Tian (The Great Wall, Kong: Skull Island), Wesley Wong (Transformers 4), Zhang Jin, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying and Qian Yong Chen have recently joined the cast as well.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight and written by Guillermo del Toro, Zak Penn, Jon Spaihts, Derek Connolly, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin, “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” will hit theaters on February 23, 2018.
