Initially, The Flash‘s third season has been a little weaker than some of us fans expected, given the huge marketing campaign surrounding the Flashpoint storyline leading up to the premiere. However, the show’s pace picked up considerably over the past few episodes, finally introducing the evil “god of speed” Savitar and exploring Wally West’s and Caitlin Snow’s struggles with being a metahuman.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed that in the second half of season three, Flashpoint won’t be the biggest focus anymore, but there will be a new threat (probably Savitar and Alchemy). To battle that new threat, Barry will be looking for more help than he usually has: Jay Garrick, Earth 3’s Flash’s return was shown in a newly released trailer for the Winter finale:

BARRY SEEKS HELP FROM JAY GARRICK — With Alchemy and Savitar still looming threats, Barry (Grant Gustin) is unable to focus on the Christmas holiday, and especially his relationship with Iris (Candice Patton). Determined to stop Savitar, Barry goes to Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick (guest star John Wesley Shipp). Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants to help Barry fight Savitar and reveals that he’s been training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh), which doesn’t go over well with Barry. As Cisco (Carlos Valdes) faces his first Christmas without his brother Dante (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez), old wounds are reopened.
