Kevin Feige Says Marvel-Fox Deal Is Currently Impossible

After Marvel and Sony made a deal at the beginning of last year that allowed Marvel to use the ‘Spider-Man’ character in their cinematic universe, fans everywhere have been wondering whether or not something similair could happen with Fox which could lead to the X-Men joining with the Avengers. When asked about this issue by Variety, Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said the following…

“It’s an impossibility at this juncture. We certainly have enough films to keep us busy for a number of lifetimes.”

While it would be fun to see X-Men and Avengers meet, there are numerous problems that Marvel would face. Marvel and Fox would have to negotiate how much involvement each studio’s property would have in the plot, how much screen time each character would get, how much cut of the box office Marvel and Fox would each get and deal with the fans complaining that their favourite character didn’t get enough screen time. Anthony and Joe Russo did a wonderful job giving each character screen time in Captain America: Civil War but can you imagine the writers and directors attempting to do that with all the members of the Avengers and the X-Men? Marvel would certainly have their work cut out for them.

Marvel has hundreds of characters that they can explore for many years to come as well as sequels for the characters that we have only just recently been introduced to such as Black Panther, Doctor-Strange and Ant-Man. Marvel does not need the X-Men in the MCU to do well, and Fox does not need the Avengers, in their X-Men movies for them to do well. Fox has been hinting about the possibility of rebooting their current X-Men movie universe so we will need to wait and see what the future holds for the X-Men before we start thinking about crossovers.
