For a long time, Vin Diesel has been rumored to be playing Black Bolt, leader of the Inhumans, in Marvel’s Inhumans movie. But with the recent announcement that Marvel’s The Inhumans will be an ABC TV show, it seems unlikely that big-budget star Vin Diesel will take the role. Further cementing this fate, on a Facebook Q/A this week James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, stated:
“The Inhumans is going to be a TV show. Unless Vin wants to take a huge pay cut and sign up to do a TV show it seems unlikely.“
While there is still a slim possibility that Diesel might decide to take on the role of Black Bolt, Gunn’s response seems to be more pragmatic. It is incredibly unlikely that a huge movie star such as Diesel would suddenly take on a role in an ABC TV show. Adding on to the unlikelihood, Diesel already portrays the living tree Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, and if he were to play Black Bolt, he would be acting as two different characters within the same universe. As a result, Gunn’s statement that Diesel will probably not join the cast of Marvel’s The Inhumans is likely to be true.
