Previously it was announced that actor Jacob Batalon was going to be playing ‘Ned Ledds’ in next year’s Marvel/Sony produced movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. Batalon’s character Ned Leeds will be the best friend of Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, and Batalon recently spoke to a performing arts class in Damien Memorial School about his approach to the role…
“Ned is really an innocent, genuine, sweet kid, and so, I haven’t been those things since like… I sort of just drew from my childhood when I was younger and didn’t know any better. Because, you know, he’s really naive in a sense. He just loves Star Wars and he’s super-smart. And he just loves to play around, so I just went back to when I was a kid playing Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon.”
While Batalon doesn’t have a huge resume to judge his acting ability from, if Marvel is willing to cast him as a seemingly main role, they must see something and it’s always good to see actors involved in roles where they can draw largely from their own personal experiences. We’re not sure how big of a role Ned will play in the movie but if he is Peter Parker’s best friend, it’s likely that he will appear in a large portion of the movie. Perhaps Peter may tell his secret to Ned but we’ll find out when Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theatres on July 7th 2017!
