Despite losing director after director, fans’ hopes are still high for the DCEU’s The Flash, which is set to debut in 2018. Although some may be concerned about the future of the film, Ezra Miller himself has stated that it is the same project which he started working on two years ago, and that he remains excited for it. As for details about the highly anticipated speedster flick, Miller stated that The Flash would not feature a Barry Allen with full mastery of his abilities, saying:
“Like, I love this comic ‘Kingdom Come’ – unbelievable art – and in that The Flash is fully evolved, and you never even see him, right? It’s just like a red mist, and there’s no crime in [Keystone] City. He protects a whole chunk of the country. So that wouldn’t make for the most interesting film – you know what I mean? What do we have to learn about that guy? That guy barely exists, right? He’s almost one with the Speed Force. So it’s interesting to go to the beginning.”
It seems that Miller believes that The Flash should feature Barry’s pitfalls along with his successes, as a flawed character is more interesting to follow than a perfect character. Miller’s comments on The Flash shed a bit more light on the specifics of the project, as well as potentially reassuring those with doubts.
