Jay Garrick, who is essentially the replacement dad to Barry Allen in The Flash, is one of the most beloved characters to ever appear in the series. Ever since his first appearance, he has been a constant voice of reason for Barry, even if he is on another earth, or in another time.
So far this season, he has only made one appearance, and that appearance was solely to warn Barry of the dangers of timeline creation. This was needed due to the creation of ‘Flashpoint’, the timeline that Barry created in which his mother never died.
You can view the synopsis for the episode below:
BARRY SEEKS HELP FROM JAY GARRICK — With Alchemy and Savitar still looming threats, Barry (Grant Gustin) is unable to focus on the Christmas holiday, and especially his relationship with Iris (Candice Patton). Determined to stop Savitar, Barry goes to Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick (guest star John Wesley Shipp). Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) wants to help Barry fight Savitar and reveals that he’s been training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh), which doesn’t go over well with Barry. As Cisco (Carlos Valdes) faces his first Christmas without his brother Dante (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez), old wounds are reopened. Rachel Talalay directed the episode with story by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing and teleplay by Lauren Certo.
In addition to the appearance of Jay Garrick, we will also be visiting Earth-3, the home of Jay Garrick’s Flash. In this episode we will also see some hopefully good relationship development between Iris and Barry, and also between Wally and H.R.
