The Living Tribunal Confirmed For The MCU

Warning: Mild Spoilers For Doctor Strange Ahead.

If you happen to live in Europe, you might have already seen Doctor Strange last week, and you might have noticed the name drop during a conversation between Stephen Strange and Karl Mordo. Mordo teaches Strange about magic artifacts and very briefly mentions his own weapon, the ‘Staff Of The Living Tribunal’.

The living tribunal is an entity comic book readers might know; it is an entity that oversees and maintains balance in the realities that constitute the Marvel Comics Multiverse, including the mainstream universe and all alternate universes. He serves as a judge of these realities. It first appeared in Strange Tales #157 (1967) where Doctor Strange encounters it in its intent to destroy Earth. In various trials, Strange is able to persuade the Tribunal that Earth is worth sparing due to its potential for good.

The Living Tribunal also happens to be a key player in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it made an appearance or was at least mentioned again in Infinity War.

Would you like to see the Tribunal play a role in future Marvel movies? Maybe in a Doctor Strange sequel? Share your ideas on Twitter or Instagram!
