Don’t Count On Seeing Green Lantern Come To ‘Arrow’

For the celebration of Arrow‘s 100th episode, CBR got a chance to talk with executive producer Wendy Mericle, who has pretty much shot down any hope fans have had regarding  Green Lantern coming to the show. A character known for being connected to Green Lantern, Susan Williams will be appearing on Arrow, so when asked about her inclusion, Mericle responded accordingly:

“One of the fun parts of the show is that you can put these characters in and the Easter eggs and the fans that know this universe so well respond to it on varying levels of excitement and whatnot, but the thing about her character that’s so intriguing is that it operates on that level. It also operates because she’s someone who’s very intrigued by Oliver, who’s going to uncover some secrets that Oliver has, which is going to be really fun, and is a fun nod to the Green Lantern, who obviously we could never bring on the show.”

A man has walked through a bar with “Jordan” on his flight jacket, Coast City has been name dropped countless times, and Ferris Air has been visited on occasion. Fans are dying to see this character brought to life on the small screen. However, with the expansion of the CW-verse over the past few years this may not be so concrete in the future. Plus, Superman has come to Supergirl and fans went wild when on top of this, Gotham was name dropped in the show. Along with the Wayne Enterprises mentioned in the newspaper from the series premiere of The Flash, it isn’t totally out of the question we could be seeing Batman at some point down the road. While Batman has a bit bigger of a following than Superman, one big argument for the characters not showing up on the CW is that they are too big and with the DCEU, fans wouldn’t be too keen on having two simultaneous incarnations of the characters at the same time. Now that they we ahead and did this with Superman, it can’t be totally ruled out that Green Lantern could appear, especially with all the Easter eggs they’ve dropped over time. Be sure to stay tuned of updates!

What do you guys think? Do you have faith that we’ll see Green Lantern on the CW to some capacity at some point in time? Is it just totally out of the question? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
