After Ben Affleck’s stunning performance as Bruce Wayne in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, fans are excited for his Batman solo film, set to hit theaters in 2018. Batman, however, is an incredibly iconic character and has been portrayed by multiple actors over the course of decades.
One of those actors, Adam West, has recently voiced his desire to cameo in Affleck’s The Batman – and he also has a very specific role in mind.
“You know what I’d love to do? Those guys are all wonderful talents in their own ways, and they approach the role differently, but if I could approach it in a darker way, of course, in a more serious way, however, it would be wonderful to play Bruce Wayne’s father coming back. You know he was murdered, but coming back one dark and stormy lightning-riven night through a library window. Bruce Wayne is there thinking, ‘I’ll never solve this. This is the most difficult thing in my life.’ In comes old dad, like a bat, almost.”
The only major instance in which Thomas Wayne has come back in the comics, is the “Flashpoint” storyline, an alternate reality where Bruce was murdered and his father became a much darker version of the Caped Crusader. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Thomas Wayne for a brief opening sequence in BvS, has also revealed that he would like to play Flashpoint Batman at some point, so if this story should ever be adapted for the big screen, he would likely be the first choice.
