Andrew Garfield Is Happy He Didn’t Keep The Spider-Mantle

For Actors, it’s a problem as old as moving pictures: they take an iconic role and are forever remembered for that single performance. It happened to Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, and even T.V. stars like Matt Leblanc as Joey Tribbiani. Well in a recent interview with Fandango, Andrew Garfield has publically stated that he is happy he did not suffer the same fate in the role of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

“To be honest, I would not have been able to work with Mel Gibson and Martin Scorsese if I had done Spider-Man 3,” Garfield said in an interview about his roles in the upcoming movies Hacksaw Ridge and Silence. “I’m incredibly grateful that I get to now go and watch another man play Spider-Man who I think is a fantastic actor in Tom Holland.”

Garfield has done an excellent job in each role he’s played in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise came to an end and Tom Holland is doing an incredible job as Peter Parker. Andrew Garfield, like everyone else, will have the opportunity to enjoy the first rendition of Spider-Man in a solo film since The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when Tom Holland takes the screen in Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, 2017.
