Earlier this week Ben Affleck revealed that the current title for his solo batman film will appropriately be titled The Batman. The actor has been giving us a few details while promoting his latest movie, The Accountant, and now he has given some clarification regarding the current state of the movie…
“I just mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time that the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said what are you calling it, and I had said, like, back when we were doing, like, promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, now we’re just going with The Batman or Batman movie or Batman’, and I said that, and then it was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his new… [Batman movie]’, I was like, you can’t even touch it without it being… and they’re like ‘this title’s so boring’ and ‘this title sucks.’”
Don’t worry fans, there is a solo Batman movie coming. All Affleck means is that they clearly don’t have all the specifics out yet. WB has had a very mixed schedule when it comes to when they shoot the movie and when they release it. They could have released Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2015 but they wanted to release it in 2016 because that is what they thought was best for their movie.
We’ve heard that The Batman is around a year and a half away so if they are indeed sticking with that time frame they will be fine if they work out the details soon. Regarding the title, fans have reacted very positively to the simple but bold title. If they do decide to change it, it’s hard to think of one that will be more fitting but I hope that they don’t make it overly complicated.
