New Details From ‘Logan’ Emerge Online

Today, Hugh Jackman and James Mangold revealed the title, poster, and a page of the script for the final Wolverine film, titled Logan. Now, The Wrap has released some exclusive details about the new movie. Let’s break it down. According to The Wrap, Logan takes place in the year 2024 and is darker than any other previous X-Men film. Unlike Deadpool, Logan will be receiving its R-rating for gore and violence opposed to dirty humor and sex.

Details about Wolverine himself are brief but very important. Apparently “Old Man Logan” is still happening but will be very different from the comic book version. Logan will drink more than he has in past films, and drives a 2024 Chrysler 300 limo. He is very sick, and his powers will not always work, especially his healing factor. He also, as seen in set photos, looks older.

As for details on Mutants at this time, it appears that they are very uncommon. Mutant births are in decline and a government faction known as “Transigen” has been experimenting on Mutant children and turning them into weapons of mass destruction.

One of these children has already been revealed on the new poster, a little girl who has two claws instead of three. Logan will be mentoring her throughout the film and she will most likely pick up the mantle of Wolverine when the film is done. Fans of the comics know that this character is X-23, the clone-daughter of Wolverine trained to be a killing machine. It will be interesting to see how she plays into the rest of the X-Men universe.

As for another important character in the film, Professor X, we learned a bit more about him as well. He, just like Wolverine, is old, sick and his powers are all over the place. He doesn’t even remember who Wolverine is sometimes which will be an interesting dynamic for the film. This will be Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart’s last time playing their respective characters on the big screen, so hopefully it will end with a bang!

Logan releases March 3, 2017 and stars Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.
