Francesco Francavilla To Write, Draw For Will Eisner’s The Spirit

Dynamite Entertainment continues to drop amazing news before New York Comic Con. Just yesterday, the news dropped that we would be getting a Killer Instinct companion comic to the 2017 reboot.  Today, the news continues to drop, and today we have a big and exciting one for you all.

Francesco Francavilla,  who is most well known for this work on ‘Afterlife with Archie’ and on ‘Detective Comics’ will both write and draw for this series, an incredible thing to do no matter who you are.

The brand new comic series will be coming in early 2017, and will run for a respectable 5 issues. It will be following The Spirit attempting to solve a mystery involving a string of random deaths.

Writer and illustrator Francesco Francavilla had many things to say about his involvement in the project.

“I couldn’t be more honored and humbled to have been asked to do a story with one of the icons of the comic universe, I’m not going to lie — tackling one of Maestro Will Eisner’s most famous creations and following in the steps of my dearest friends Darwyn Cooke and Matt Wagner is not gonna be an easy task, but I’ll make sure my love for the character, for those legendary creators, and for the medium will show. And I hope readers will be along with me on this new ride. Thanks again to the Eisner Estate and Dynamite Comics for inviting me to Central City; I think I’m gonna like living here for a bit!”

Make sure to wait along with us as we anticipate the series which is coming in early 2017.
