Female Villain Coming To ‘FEAR THE WALKING DEAD’

Love it or hate it, Fear The Walking Dead has its fair share of strong female characters; more so than The Walking Dead did in its early seasons. Coming via an exclusive report from ComicBook.com we just learned that in season three the spin-off show will even take it a step further and introduce a female villain, something that hasn’t been seen before in the Dead universe.

“There’s gonna be a new prominent character, who we’re gonna meet south of the border, who is going to have an impact on Nick and Luciana, and Strand most likely,” FTWD executive producer and co-creator Dave Erickson reveals. “She will become somebody, I think, who can rival any of the powerful characters we’ve had on the show or will have on the show. The idea is to create opposing forces on either side of the border and see what happens when they end up in conflict and what happens if our family is on opposite sides of the conflict.”

Erickson went on to talk about some of the women of Fear, namely Alicia and Ofelia. As per Alicia:

“Alicia is another one who can’t turn back. She definitely adapted to the killing of the dead and she ripped off Jack’s butterfly knife and she has become quite skilled with that. She was not the one who was supposed to take a life. Unlike Travis, who has now murdered two and indirectly killed a third, she was not prepared for that and she’s gonna have to take a little bit more time to adjust. That doesn’t mean she’s gonna be weaker by any stretch of the imagination but it’s gonna take her a minute to get accustomed to the fact that she killed an innocent man.”

“Alicia is a force and we’re going to continue that track with her.”

Changing the subject to Ofelia, Erikson confirmed that the young Hispanic woman is not about to reunite with Madison and Travis’ family, at least not because she wants to.

“Mercedes [Mason] is just really good at killing zombies, amongst other things. That was something we saw as the season evolved. She’s lost both of her parents and what she recognized in episode nine was that ‘Just because I’m with you people, Alicia, Madison, Travis, and company, you’re not my family. We came together by accident and without any real bloodline, I’m gonna go and try to find something that mattered to me before this all began.’ It’s a bit of a suicidal attempt in some respects but luckily she runs across Dayton Callie and I think that is gonna turn her back toward a more realistic version of the apocalypse.”

Fear The Walking Dead will return for its third season in 2017. Have you been enjoying it? Sound off on Twitter or Instagram!
