At a recent comic-con, Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter franchise star, was seen dressed up as Spider-Man, and that sparked rumors that perhaps he would play the scarlet webster on the big screen. This was debunked, obviously, when the actual Spider-Man was unveiled as young Tom Holland, much to the fans of Radcliffe/Spider-Man’s disappointment. The actor talked to Metro recently, and commented on the casting choice:
“I would’ve been a good Spider-Man but the boat has sailed on that and I’m very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He’s fantastic.”
Short and sweet with his answer is the best option with something like a Spider-Man casting, as no one wants to start a controversy, especially the Swiss Army Man star. When asked if he would like to star in another franchise, he has this to say:
“If it was good enough and something I was interested in. I’m not sure if I’d sign up for something that was another seven or eight films or ten years but a shorter franchise, yeah.”
While it would be cool to have Radcliffe playing a role in a Marvel film, I can see the wisdom in not casting him. They would want someone who can play the role, not have a huge actor overpower the character. If they could figure it out though, I’m sure they could fit him in there somehow.
What do you think? Would you have rather seen a version of Spider-Man played by Daniel Radcliffe? What are other places you could see him, as a villain, smaller hero, or even in the DCEU? Sound off in the comments below, or on our Twitter or Instagram!
