It is not uncommon for film studios to release trailers for major upcoming films alongside other major releases, but it is nice to have confirmation that it will be happening. That’s exactly what happened today at Disney. After the major announcement that Jon Favreau will be directing a Jungle Book style version of The Lion King, Disney revealed that the third and final trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would release alongside Doctor Strange.
The news came from Elena Brodskaya, marketing director of Disney’s Russian subdivision. She confirmed this news while discussing Disney’s upcoming film slate. It was no surprise that Disney would be doing this with Doctor Strange‘s late October/early November release date. Similar to other trailers, it will release online a day or two before the film is released and then will play at the theater.
While Rogue One has been somewhat secretive about the plot, we know the basic outline. However, this doesn’t mean fans want to be spoiled two months before they see the movie in theaters. Many fans, including myself, are satisfied with what we do know so far, and hopefully we do not get any major plot points spoiled. It is very common for the third trailer of any major blockbuster to have a lot of spoilers.
If we are going to see any more footage in the newest trailer, a very small amount of Darth Vader would be very exciting for fans. I personally would like to see a glimpse of Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) who has been confirmed to be in the film.
If I were to guess, the trailer would released October 27th, the day before Doctor Strange is released in a large amount of countries. The release date is still unknown, but you can see the trailer when Doctor Strange releases November 4th in the United States.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released this December
