There Will Be No Infinity Stones In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

As it is known to all fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a recurring theme in many of the films is the involvement of the infinity stones. There are six total infinity stones in existence, and it is a part of Thanos’ master plan to obtain all six which will result in his complete dominance over all planets. As of now, four of the six stones have been identified in the MCU; the space gem from Captain America and The Avengers, the reality gem from Thor: The Dark World, the mind gem from The Avengers, and the power gem from Guardians of the Galaxy, leaving two remaining stones that will likely be introduced in the upcoming films. Many believe Doctor Strange will be in possession of a stone in his upcoming film in the form of the Eye of Agamotto which is highly likely, leaving one final stone that needs to present itself likely before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

While there is one stone remaining to be discovered in the MCU with just a limited amount of movies remaining before Infinity War, many have theorized it will introduce itself during the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. Unfortunately, those who were hoping for its presence in the Guardians sequel can erase those thoughts, as the film’s director James Gunn recently confirmed via a reply to a comment on Facebook, saying “there will be no infinity stones in vol. 2.”

Although an infinity stone played a major role in the original Guardians of the Galaxy, this will not be the case for the sequel. Considering Doctor Strange will likely feature either the time gem or the soul gem, the final will appear in any of the upcoming MCU films. Which movie do you think will introduce the final infinity stone? Let us know in the comments below, as well as on Twitter and Instagram!

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 will premiere in theaters on May 5th of next year.
