Recently we reported that Jared Leto wants to return to the role of the Joker after his début in Suicide Squad. With rumors of him appearing in Justice League, the actor talked about exactly where he wants to play the Clown Prince of Crime again: in Ben Affleck’s Batman film.
Speaking with the Toronto Sun, the actor talked a bit about he wants to be seen as the Joker again.
“I hope it’s an introduction (of the Joker) … and not the end!” He said. “Because I could easily just play the Joker a couple more times and then retire. Because it’s so fulfilling and so creative and it’s so imaginative. It’s really difficult to think about doing anything else!”
There were many reports that Leto had fully invested himself in the character, acting like the Joker off camera and even sending sick and twisted gifts to his co-stars. The cast and crew constantly said how invested he was in the role and that gives us hopeful fans something to look forward to when the film is released this upcoming weekend. The actor also told the reporter how he was interested in seeing Batman and the Joker go at it in this universe.
“I think it would be incredible to see Batman and the Joker go head-to-head! This Batman and this Joker. I mean, I don’t know, that might be too much! But that would be fun.”
If Leto’s Joker is received as well as Ben Affleck’s Batman, and the character is as interesting as Heath Ledger’s performance in 2008’s The Dark Knight, it would be no surprise at all if we saw these two fighting in one of the upcoming Batman films.
Suicide Squad will be released this Friday, August 5, in theaters everywhere.
