Swamp Thing Test Footage For ‘Justice League Dark’ Released

The Swamp Thing is a DC character that was created in 1971 and garnered mainstream success throughout the 80’s and 90’s appearing over many different mediums. There was a TV series that ran on the USA network from 1990-1993, as well as the two Wes Craven films starring the character in 1982 and 1989. Along with the live-action appearances, there was also a Swamp Thing Animated Series along with two accompanying video games, one for the Nintendo Entertainment System and one for the Gameboy.

There have been various attempts to bring this character back to life in various ways, most famously with the Justice League Dark film with Guillermo Del Toro at the helm. Joseph Kahn (Torque) has also been linked to the character as a director of a Dark Universe film (formerly called Justice League Dark). While this film was scrapped and we will not see it come to life, Kahn took it upon himself to share an 8 second clip from test footage of the Swamp Thing character on his personal Vimeo account.

This footage while simple shows great detail in both with image and sound. This shows the character walking forward, it leaves much to the imagination about how this character would be used and what the visuals would be of this film, but gives a basis for what the character would have looked like.

While it is yet to be seen if we will see another live action rendition of this character, it is safe to say that there will still be more attempts to bring this character to life. Until that time, we will see this character in a digital form in the upcoming animated film Justice League Dark.  Do you like the look of the character in this test footage?
