Mark Hamill Will Continue To Voice The Joker After ‘The Killing Joke’

Mark Hamill (Star Wars) has been voicing the Clown Prince of Crime for well over 20 years now. He’s become so famous for voicing the character that he is THE Joker for a lot of fans, including myself. Whenever you read comics featuring Joker it’s always his voice you hear. Hamill first portrayed The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series – a series that is hailed by many as the greatest animated series of all time, beating out both Justice League and X-Men.

For those of you who haven’t seen the Batman Animated Series (I didn’t know people like that could exist), you can find Mark voicing Joker in the first 3 Batman Arkham video game titles. Due to him voicing the character for so long, it’s natural for people to begin wondering if one day soon he’ll leave the sound booth for good and never return to the iconic voice. A fan recently took to Twitter to ask the iconic actor if Batman: The Killing Joke would be his last time voicing the character of the Joker. Here’s what he had to say:

“No.”

A pretty hilarious and straightforward answer. Over the past few years the media has misunderstood Mark when it comes to this question. Each time the media has said Hamill was set to retire his Joker, a year or two later he comes right back.  As someone who’s grown up hearing Mark Hamill’s voice emanate from the Joker, it’s something I look forward to every time I hear he’s attached to a Batman project. Each time I hear that laugh it’s liked I’m whisked away back to my childhood. I guess the next question is what other projects does DC Comics have in store for Mark Hamill’s iconic Joker? We’ll just have to wait and see.
