While ‘Star Wars; The Force Awakens’ had an overall positive response, making over one billion dollars at the box office, it sounds like Avatar director, James Cameron, had a much different response to the seventh title in the franchise.
While Cameron did try and shy away from the topic, He did give some of his opinion on the effects of the film, along with he story.
“But I gotta say I think that George’s six films, had more innovative visual imagination. And this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before, and characters you had seen before. It took a few baby steps forward with new characters. But for me the jury is out, I want to see where they go with it.”
While the reviews for the film was mostly positive, most fans did say that the film was in a way, a remake of ‘A New Hope’ which J.J Abrams did say was on purpose, Which is what I think Cameron means by “Taking baby steps.”
