Up until yesterday, Darth Vader had only been heavily rumored to appear in the first of the Star Wars spinoff movies. But now we have confirmation for his character’s appearance as well as who’s heavy breathing we’ll be hearing.
EW had an interview with Lucasfilm’s president Kathleen Kennedy who confirmed that James Earl Jones will be reprising his role for the voice of Vader. However, she also explained how he won’t be in the film for an extended amount of time.
“He will be in the movie sparingly,” Kennedy warned excited fans, “But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.”
Though he may not be prevalent through the entire movie, fans should still be excited to see Darth Vader’s return to the big screen. Take Civil War for example; Spider-Man was on screen for maybe 20 minutes, but to many fans (myself included) he was the highlight of the film. Because this isn’t a part of the main Star Wars saga, we probably won’t be seeing any Jedi face off against Vader, which will make his appearance that much more powerful. Maybe sometime soon we will get to see set pictures or perhaps even a trailer showcasing the iconic Sith Lord so stay tuned for updates!
What do you guys think? Are you happy he’s even going to appear in the movie? Or are you disappointed that he won’t be present the whole time? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
