Mark Millar and Joe Roth Team Up to Bring ‘Empress’ to the Big Screen

Bringing masterpieces to cinemas such as Kingsman: The Secret Service and Wanted, Mark Millar is back to develop a new film based on his comic that debuted last month, Empress. The launch of the first issue was a hit with readers, and so the decision has already been made to bring it to the big screen. Miller will be joined by Joe Roth, as well as Jeff Kirschenbaum (who also worked on Wanted ) and writer F. Scott Frazier for the script. Kirschenbaum had this to say about the matter:

“Nobody creates universes that translate into big movie ideas better than Millar. With ‘Empress’, he’s raised the bar yet again. Part ‘Star Wars’, part ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and part something wholly fresh that only the amazing brain of Millar could spawn.”

These are some serious praises that Empress is receiving. The Star Wars franchise has one of the largest followings in the nerd kingdom, and GotG has made a name for itself among comic book and MCU fans, so to compare it to these two titles is very bold. We’ll just have to wait and see if it lives up to Kirschenbaum’s claims.

What do you guys think? Have you started reading Millar’s new series? Are you excited that they’ve already decided to adapt it to film? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
